Do You Need YHVH or Dr. Phil?
Well we are really moving along here. We are already in parasha Kedoshim. It begins in Leviticus 19:1-20:27. We see here Moshe is instructed by YHVH to tell all the children of Israel these commandments. Now according to other writings on this subject, this was unusual. It was unusual because, generally Moshe would call in Aharon and teach him, then he would teach Aharon's sons. Next, Moshe would call in the elders and teach them. Then last he would teach the people. Here Moshe is teaching the entire group simultaneously. Previously, the people were not required to attend the teaching of the other commandments, so these instructions must be very important, because everyone was required to attend. YHVH is instructing his people on how to live in this new land. He tells them they are to be set apart, first and foremost. This means they are not to do what the guy down the street does. Or maybe in this case, the guy down in the next field:. Next, He gives them one of the Top Ten, honor your father and mother. He even puts this one before guarding His Sabbaths. We have strayed so far away from honoring the Sabbath in this age it's pathetic! YHVH never said honor the time from 10 am to 12 pm on Sundays, then you can go mall walking. He never said to honor certain times on Saturdays either and then go wash your car. He said to honor the DAY, not a 'portion' of it. We need to just take one day out of the week to let go of television, work, cooking (not a problem for me here:) and relax and study the Word. Messianics know this, but are we doing it? Another thing the Scripture speaks of is this; how to treat those less fortunate than you. Back then, they left the corner portions of the grain fields for the poor. They also left some of the grapes in the vineyard. Today, we don't do it quite like that. But the commandment to feed and help the poor never went away.
Everyone can always find someone that needs some help. There's never a lack of poor people. Of course, sometimes our idea of what is 'poor' is not the same as someone in a third world country. Where someone may not have enough food to feed their kids, another thinks they are poor if they can't go buy something at the mall. We seriously need to examine our core values in this country and especially as 'believers'. So how do I love my neighbor? You can start by not taking anything of his that doesn't belong to you. Your 'neighbor' could also be the place where you work. Do you take things from your workplace without permission? Even if it's just an ink pen, it's not yours to take without permission. Some people may think this is getting too picky, but sometimes, it's the little things that cause you not to come up higher in your walk. We usually have no problem saying, oh I wish my neighbor well. What you really mean deep down is, I wish him well, but not more 'well off' than me:. We should want "no less" for our neighbor/brother than we desire for ourselves. How can I love my neighbor you ask? Here are a few suggestions; a. treat them with the utmost respect, b. always seek their best interest, c. give them the benefit of the doubt, d. assist them physically when necessary, e. greet them in sincere friendliness, f. put 'their needs' above yours; if you can do these things, you're off to a good start.
I admit that some people aren't too lovable, but for those people you have to make a decision to love no matter what! The Scripture says you cannot love them on the outside and then hate them in your heart. Wouldn't YHVH just have to go and put that statement in there:? He knows how to ruin our little tea parties doesn't He? He knows we could put on a happy face and sugar wouldn't melt in our mouth in front of someone, but be 'seething on the inside'. Then we come to a very popular thing, vengeance:. It's not always easy to pass up a good way to 'even the score' with someone, as we call it. How much better off we would be, if we could just release everything into YHVH'S hands for judgment. Sometime back, someone wrongly charged us for car repairs they did not perform to the tune of $1,200.00. Was I mad, you'd better believe it! I wanted to go picket in front of the guys business:. But instead, I filed a claim with the state and gave it over to YHVH. I just said in my heart, YHVH, you judge between us and him what the right thing to do is. Guess what, the state made him pay back the entire amount of money he had charged us. Was that the way my flesh wanted to handle it, no! My flesh wanted to go wring his scrawny little neck:. We all need help in life not to try and take things into our own hands! Vengeance is mine saith the Lord, but usually He doesn't work nearly as quickly as we'd like Him too, which is usually in the time frame of the next day:. Then we have to discuss the mixing of the seed. Here's another area where we go merrily on our way and never know we are doing something that YHVH said not to do. Example, small scale; you have some nice tomato plants that really look neat and different. The trouble is, they are hybrids. What's wrong with hybrids, they won't reproduce! YHVH told us that everything is supposed to reproduce after its kind. We've cross-bred plants and animals and everything else! What do you think a seedless watermelon is, a cross breed. Example, large scale; Monsanto adds things like fertilizer to the DNA of soy beans. Not only is this mixing seed, but it's mixing living with non-living! We breed a horse with a donkey and get a mule and then a mule can't reproduce. It's all over the place, this mixing of seed! We also read about not rounding the corners of your beard. If you read this portion of Scripture in its context and combine it with the traditions of pagan mourning in that time period, you have your answer. This cutting off of hair and beard were displays of mourning the pagans used. So was cutting their selves. You are not to tattoo your body either. Did you think tattoos were something new, heavens no! They were doing that even before King Tut was in diapers:. Look how popular they've became today. Anybody and everybody seems to be getting one. I mean, if Angelina Jolie has one, shouldn't we all:? I believe if I see one more article cover on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, I'm going to scream, but that's another subject:. Do we think anything about it when we see a tattoo on a person, no. That's how far we have wandered away from the teachings of YHVH. But look what YHVH had to tell His people "not to do". He told them not to offer up their children to the god Molech. This was a huge metal idol with outstretched arms; they heated the fire inside of it red hot and then laid their babies in its arms to burn to death. It was a fertility god and they offered up a child as a sacrifice. People brought eggs and rolled them in the blood that ran down from the baby. Can you say coloring Easter eggs boys and girls? Where do you think the tradition of coloring eggs came from? Here we have Christians celebrating Easter as if it had anything to do with Yeshua's death and resurrection. But did YHVH'S people end up doing it, yes. Then last we read about some very serious sins in YHVH'S eyes. If you committed adultery, you were killed! Both the man and woman were put to death. If a man married a woman and took her mother too, he was to be burned to death. You lie with an animal, you die. If you were a medium, you die. If you lay with the same sex, you die. If you laid with your daughter in law, you die. Today we just have Dr. Phil deal with these cases! People ask me, do you believe in the death penalty, yes, I do. It seems very clear to me that YHVH believed in the death penalty. However, that doesn't mean they can't get forgiveness. Although we're talking deliberate sinning here, not just a "slip up" in a believer's everyday life. So if you are in one of the above situations and not interested in pleasing the Creator of all things, I think Dr. Phil might just have an opening for you. If however, you desire to walk a clean life before YHVH, then I suggest you get into some serious prayer! Shalom
